Strong Rope is throwing a summer solstice party and we’re one of the vendors! We’ll have a selection of summer reads out, as well as art books, poetry for under $5, and a BOGO for select titles. As usual, all our books are half off retail price or more, the only difference is we’ll be manning the table in person! Come say hi, watch a whole pig get roasted, sip an ice cold Pilsner, buy some records from our neighbors, pet all the good doggies, and kick back for that unbeatable red hook sunset 😎🌅

 📣 big news for our tiny shop 📣 We are now officially a part of the ABA and are listed on  as a pop-up, graciously hosted within Strong Rope Brewery.

Now when you buy a new book through our Bookshop.org profile, we earn a 30% commission, just like we would if we were selling new books in-store. You can even buy giftcards!

Every purchase helps us grow: stocking more books, supporting more readers, and working toward our own storefront right here in red hook.

As small as we are right now, we’re excited to be red hook’s official first used bookstore! If you’d rather your book dollars stay in this neighborhood we all love so much (and not go to Amazon or B&N), this is one way to make that happen.

Over one year later and still going Strong (Rope!)

We picked up a little display table for our new books and moved to the back corner of the brewery, making us true to our name again! We're ready for the summer reading season now. Nothing beats the heat like a cold beer, a book, and a stunning view of the Brooklyn waterfront 🤩 Now only if the weather would start cooperating!!

Backroom Books headed into Spring!

The books have been steadily leaving the shelves and the feedback has been so positive that Strong Rope Brewery has graciously extended our stay into the spring! We are now aptly nestled in the back against the wall with room to grow. It’s only been two months and we’ve sold just over 125 books from our modest selection of used and new titles and we’re grateful to have caught the eye of Time Out New York and local NY1 news in so short a time!

It’s a joy to be able to offer affordable books to our Red Hook neighborhood, sourced from readers in our community and across Brooklyn. A huge thank you to everyone who has bought a book, and to anyone who has shown an interest in our little pop-up. Onwards, into spring! 🌸
